I build products
that think.

Brand systems, web products, AI-integrated tools. I work best when the problem is real, the audience is specific, and there's something actual at stake.

How I Work

01

Discover

Research the audience, the constraints, and the gaps before any design decisions are made.

02

Design

Systems, not screens. Every component traces back to a decision about the person using it.

03

Build

Design is only halfway done until it's in the browser. I write my own code.

04

Launch

Ship, measure, iterate. Shipping is a skill. I've done it solo and on teams.

I design for a specific person in a specific moment — the AV operator scrambling between songs on a Sunday morning, the indie artist trying to reach the right 500 people. Not a persona. An actual human with a deadline.

The details that make something work — the micro-copy, the load state, the fallback — those aren't polish. They're the product.

AI doesn't change that. It just raises the ceiling on what one person can build alone.

About

Stephen Okulaja

Design, build, launch —
one person, no handoff.

Humber College, 2021. I've worked full-time and freelanced simultaneously ever since — which means I've had to think commercially about design from the start, not eventually.

Digital operations, social strategy, motion graphics, branding, web development, audio production. Not scattered side interests — one integrated practice. I understand how a brand sounds, moves, looks, and converts.

In recent years I started integrating Claude and generative tools directly into the products I build. I don't use AI as a shortcut. I use it as a design material.

Based in Markham, Ontario. Toronto clients and remote. If the problem is real, the brief doesn't have to be finished.

Currently freelancing. Open to the right full-time or part-time role — I care more about the work and the people than the structure.

I also produce music. It's probably why I care as much about the invisible parts of a product — the timing, the silence, the transition — as the parts you can see.
